This platform provides an interactive, fully relational database and databank with more than 3,000 uniformly processed and formatted European strong-motion records and associated earthquake-, station and waveform-parameters. The user can search the database and databank interactively and download selected strong-motion records and associated parameters. Information about European organizations involved in strong-motion recordings are also available.

The database can be accessed by clicking on the Database button on the left hand side or by clicking here.

In June 2008 records from the 29th May 2008 south Iceland earthquake were made available for download and some associated parameters of existing records were modified within the database. A list of the new records can be accessed by clicking on the New Data button on the left hand side or by clicking here.

In March 2004 a new CD ROM entitled 'Dissemination of European strong-motion data, volume 2' was released. This CD ROM contains corrected acceleration, velocity and displacement time-histories of 462 triaxial strong-motion records from 110 earthquakes and 261 stations in Europe and the Middle East. In addition, it also contains linear elastic response spectra, inelastic (elastoplastic) constant strength spectra and inelastic (elastoplastic) constant ductility spectra. The associated earthquake, station and waveform parameters of these 462 records are also present on the CD ROM so that full use can be made of the data. These data were selected using strict selection criteria and so they are the Eurasian data for which most information exists. All of these data can be viewed and analyzed using the Strong-Motion Datascape Navigator (SMDN) software provided on the CD ROM. SMDN allows you to export the time-histories, spectra and the associated parameters of records to ASCII files in a standard format. SMDN can also be used to view and analyze data downloaded from this site. A paper on this new CD ROM, which was presented at the 13th World Conference on Earthquake Engineering, is available here. Copies of the CD ROM can be obtained by writing to the responsible persons at Imperial College London, University of Iceland, University of Trieste or Institut de Radioprotection et de Sûreté Nucléaire (please see contact details on the Contacts page).

The platform also presents the CD-ROM with 1,068 strong-motion records from Europe and adjacent regions. A comprehensive browser is provided on the CD-ROM allowing the user to search the database and databank for the selection and extraction of design input data.

Four identical Internet-sites have been established at:
Imperial College London, United Kingdom
University of Iceland, Reykjavik
University of Trieste, Italy
Institute of Engineering Seismology and Earthquake Engineering, Thessaloniki, Greece

This platform as well as the CD-ROM have been created with the support of the > European Commission, 4th Framework Programme, contract ENV4-CT97-0397 and 5th Framework Programme, contract EVR1-CT-1999-40008.
